Equine Diagnostic Imaging: Nose to Tail Series: 1. Head and Neck
1st & 2nd March 2012
British Racing School, Newmarket
The Imaging of the Equine Head and Neck course is the first in the series of a new Equine Diagnostic Imaging: Nose to Tail series. It has been designed by Whorl Education with Neil Townsend, equine soft tissue surgeon at the Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital, University of Liverpool and will be presented by a select group of internationally renowned speakers from the UK, who are all experienced in their diagnostic imaging fields.
The first 2 day course will cover all aspects of equine head and neck imaging, from the commonly used techniques such as radiography, ultrasonography and endoscopy; to the emerging technologies such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), laryngeal ultrasound and oral endoscopy. There will be specialised sessions on restraint for head and neck imaging procedures, anaesthetic considerations for contrast imaging and imaging for ocular pathology. Remote dynamic laryngeal endoscopy will also be discussed and demonstrated.
This course is ideal for anyone interested in diagnostic imaging, from those who wish to improve their head radiographs to those who aspire to using the more advanced CT and MRI techniques or for those who wish to better understand the principles behind their use and the cases for which referral to a specialist centre might benefit.
The content will be helpful for those who are planning to take RCVS certificates C-VDI.4, C-VDI.5, C-EP.15, C-EP16, C-VA.2.
