Lewis qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006 and then completed an internship at a private equine hospital in Ocala, Florida, USA. On his return to the UK in 2007 he undertook a 3 year residency in Equine Surgery at Rossdales.
After finishing the residency Lewis left Newmarket and relocated to Queensland, Australia where he took up a position at the University of Queensland as a clinical instructor. Lewis’s main responsibilities at University of Queensland were for CT diagnostic imaging and equine surgery.
Lewis holds an RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics), a Diploma from the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and an RCVS diploma in Equine Soft Tissue Surgery. In 2018, Lewis was awarded an RCVS fellowship following submission of a thesis on equine orthopaedics.
Lewis runs the practice’s overground endoscopy service and has extensive experience of horses in training. He works at Rossdales Equine Hospital as one of the surgeons.
